Jennifer Leigh

Owner and Master Stylist

A few of my favorite things...

Inside the salon Looking at loyal clients in new ways. Color! Color! Color! From natural looking highlights to metallic looks and vivid tones - I love it all. Hearing the word perfect...

Outside the salon My family - Shawn & our dog Stella, my garden; veggie and flower, my yoga practice www.portlandpoweryoga.com, having a president that can speak full sentences, fresh local food, pizza from our brick oven, sewing, summer, NYC.

Jennifer Leigh, founder of O2 salon, has been in the beauty business for 25 years.

“My philosophy on working with hair is simple,” says Jennifer. “If you embrace the nature of the hair and work with it, you will not be fighting your hair’s natural flow, and you will look better more of the time.

“I have curly hair myself, and grew up hating it. At 26, I gave in and let it have its way. Letting my hair guide me to cuts that work means less work and more good hair days. “

Working with that philosophy as a foundation, Jennifer creates a style that accentuates positive features and fits the client’s lifestyle.

Color is her favorite service. “I love to use highlights to accentuate a style, a facial feature, or for fun,” says Jennifer. “With color and style working together, the look can be the fullest reflection of my client’s personality.”

Jennifer trained in Portland, also studied at Vidal Sassoon Academy in London. She’s also been an educator for Framesi in New England. Prior to opening her own shop in 1999, Jennifer worked for many of Portland’s leading salons.

In 1994, Jennifer enrolled at Maine College of Art, and graduated four years later with a degree in furniture design.

“I finished school, but went back to hair styling. The study of art may not have led me to a new career, but I believe my studies helped me fine-tune my aesthetic eye,” she says.

She is so passionate, she blogs about beauty, in her spare time. Check it out here tashazwickerhill.com

Her position as a stylist is the culmination of hard work and a life-long aspiration to help others reach their full potential.

"My favorite thing about the industry," says Tasha, "is making people feel fabulous. Nothing beats making your client do the 'I feel hot dance' in your chair when they look in the mirror."

"The beauty of this carreer is the fact that you never stop learning. Classes on new techniques and styles feed my inspiration and get me excited to get my hands in some hair. I love doing styles, cuts and colors that make a bold statement, but I also enjoy the subtlety of a natural-looking color and cut that perfectly compliments a client's style."

Tasha also enjoys working on photo shoots with her husband David Zwickerhill. Dave is a Maine photographer who is available for weddings, portraits of pets or kids. Check out his site:Zwickerhill Photography
