Inside the salon

Hair should be livable and personal. Your hair should fit your personality and practicality, draw attention to your best features and instill confidence at all times.

Outside the salon

Teaching yoga, meditation, biking and hiking, playing with my two kittens, DJ Shadow and Marty.

Dana studied advanced cutting in London in 1979, and in 1982 he worked and trained at Vidal Sassoon in New York City. He opened Akari Hair Salon on Fore Street in 1983. He sold the salon and moved to Los Angeles in 1987, where he expanded his resume to include acting in film and television and owning and operating Abode Candle Co., manufacturing high-end candles for Bed, Bath & Beyond and finer stores and museums everywhere. He also embraced yoga, which he taught for 10 years in southern California. He studied with Zen Master Rama and famed shaman Carlos Castaneda. Through the years, Dana has had the opportunity to teach yoga privately to Robin Williams, Dave Navarro, Clive Barker and more.

O2 owner Jennifer Leigh said Dana is an important addition to her salon.

“Dana’s experience and education is almost unmatched in Portland,” she said. “Our clients can take advantage of this amazing resource and talent.”

“I am thrilled to have this opportunity to work with Jennifer Leigh at O2,” he said.

He added that he is grateful for Yelp and the many positive reviews he is receiving.
